From the Beginning
The start of my life began here in Lindsay California, I’m the youngest out of nine and for all eight siblings being together at once was difficult. My parents on the other hand, my mom wasn’t actually a part of my life until school started. As for my dad, he was always trying to provide as much as he could for me, so he was always working. So the ones raising me were my grandma and my aunt.
The start of my education was mostly at Lincoln Elementary, here in Lindsay. I started Head-Start then progressed my way into the third grade, I ended up moving to Humboldt County with my mom which I then I switched schools at least 3 times due to where we started living, but in Rio Dell where I finally started my middle school days, I hadn’t gotten involved with anything until my seventh grade school year which then I started to become a 3 sport athlete; Volleyball, Basketball, and Cheerleading. That year flew right by since I was busy and in the upcoming year I had made the decision that even with the school work being a bit harder I would continue playing. During the eighth grade school year my class had fundraised money to go on a trip. Towards the last 2 months of school we had noticed we had enough money to go on a class trip to Sacramento for about 4 days. About a week later our class graduated.
Next thing I knew I then had to enroll here at Lindsay High School. As freshmen year started I thought that everything would have been way different than it actually was. I basically had the same friends I had when I was younger. The work seemed so easy. Sophomore year came along and the work became a little harder. Later toward the end of the year I had knee surgery, it took doctors about 4 years to find out exactly what was wrong. Next thing I knew it was junior year already and the due dates were preparing us for senior year, and some work was a struggle but I managed to get through it. Now it’s senior year and I think back and say where has the time gone, it seems like yesterday was just the beginning of the high school experience. This year the due dates are serious, not only to get the grade but to be prepared for college.
I believe I overcame multiple obstacles that could have brought me down but I just faced them. One of the quotes I try to live by is “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” - E.E. Cummings, when I heard this quote it had me thinking about how many things have gotten in my way of striving for the best, but what if I didn’t face them would I even be in the position I am today, I have learned to face anything that comes my way not only because I can achieve more but also these obstacles wouldn’t have made me the person I am today.
